The Gate is a safe place
The services the Gate 3:16 provides are more desperately needed than ever before. Everyday people are bombarded with stories of death, violence and hatred that they hear on T.V. and radio.
There are those people, like our clients, whose own lives are already filled with chaos and problems. They survive on a low income and most of their money goes to rent with very little left over for other necessities. Their stress builds and they have no family to assist them and no coping skills. Where do these people go for help? They do not feel comfortable going to church. They are ashamed and embarrassed about their lifestyles, but they will come to the Gate.
They come because they are hungry, some for clothing, fellowship and friendship or referral to other agencies. Others come to use the phone for appointments and some come just for peace and quiet that is not available at home. There are some people who are so desperate they are forced to rent a mattress on the floor from someone.
They keep returning to the Gate because they receive help in dealing with their difficulties and problems. They know that we love them and will take care of them.
We ensure that everyone that comes to the Gate is aware that it is only through God's help that we can assist them. With God all things are possible!
Our clients come to know that God loves them and will help them regardless of who they are or what they have done.
A Client's Story
A few months ago, we found out that one of our clients had been sleeping sitting up in a chair for a year and a half because she could not afford a bed.
The word went out and within a few weeks, not only did she get a beautiful day-bed, but matching sheets, comforter, and pillow shams.
We have had the unique experience of servicing hearing impaired clients through the computer. We continue to work with this clients so they are able to fully access all services.
